Welcome to Assistant Professor Ou Pengfei

Welcome to Assistant Professor Ou Pengfei

The Department of Chemistry welcomes Assistant Professor Ou Pengfei who has joined the Department under the NUS Presidential Young Professorship scheme in September 2024. Dr Ou received his B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees from Central Southern University, China in 2012 and 2015, respectively. He then proceeded to pursue his Ph.D. at McGill University, Canada under the supervision of Professor Jun Song.  Subsequently, Pengfei had his postdoctoral stint with Professor Edward Sargent at the University of Toronto/Northwestern University before joining NUS. Dr Ou’s current research interests include: i) catalyst design for electrochemical reactions; ii) dynamic simulations of chemical processes under reaction conditions; iii) development of methods for accelerated catalyst discovery using AI4Catalysis, ML, open databases, and data science. He is an excellent addition to the department in computational catalyst design using AI/ML, an area that has wide-ranging applications across chemistry, catalysis and energy.
