Chemistry 88th Anniversary Celebration
The Department of Chemistry celebrated its 88th anniversary with a big dinner on 27 Oct 2017 at the Fullerton Hotel. A total of 372 alumni, staff and students have enjoyed the nostalgic evening, reunite and catching up with old professors and friends. The event was lightened up with 3 unforgettable performances by our own alumni namely Cantonese Opera by Mrs Joanna Wong and Mr Gary Ong, Piano recital by Dr Tan It Koon and Guitar performance by Dr Hardy Chan. The Department is very fortunate to have received overwhelming support and sponsorship for the dinner. We also published the commemorative booklet “Celebrating 88 years of Chemistry in Singapore” during this celebration and you can view here (file size: 15 MB).
All gifts collated from the dinner have been channeled into the Chemistry Alumni Fund towards the establishment of merit scholarship in honour of Emeritus Professor Huang Hsing Hua, and other awards/prizes for our students in Chemistry and FST. With support from alumni and well-wishers, it will truly make a real difference in the lives of our students and accomplish more than we could do alone.
