The Department of Chemistry welcomes Assistant Professor Xi Yumeng who has joined the Department under the NUS Presidential Young Professorship scheme on 25 January 2023. Yumeng received his B.S. degree in Chemistry from Peking University in 2011, and continued to obtain his Ph.D. from University of California, Berkeley in 2019 under the supervision of Professor John F. Hartwig. Yumeng then moved on to carry out his postdoctoral research with Prof Craig J. Hawker at University of California, Santa Barbara. Yumeng’s research interests are in the field of synthetic organic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, catalysis and polymer science.
