Welcome to Assistant Professor Park Somin

The Department of Chemistry welcomes Assistant Professor Park Somin who has joined the Department under the NUS Presidential Young Professorship scheme in September 2024. Dr Park received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Gyeongsang National University, Korea. She then proceeded to obtain her M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Kentucky, USA in 2017 and 2020, respectively. Subsequently, Somin had her postdoctoral stint with Professor Edward Sargent at the University of Toronto/Northwestern University. Dr Park aims to develop new strategies to solve new and complex societal challenges in energy and sustainability. She is an excellent addition to the department in the areas of optoelectronics and surface science that have far-reaching applications across chemistry, energy and materials sciences.
