The ChemNUS Demo Interest Group was established in the Department in August 2021. The objective is to provide a platform for mentors and students who are passionate in chemistry demonstrations to discuss, experiment, and share their ideas together. A lab space and some resources are provided to cultivate the Demo Interest Group, and NUS Chemistry undergraduates are welcome to join the group. Interested students, may email to lindaoei@nus.edu.sg
Some of the ChemNUS Demo Interest Group works are:
1. Magnetic Susceptibility Study of Heteroleptic Nickel (II) Complexes Ni(Et2en)2X2. The Ni(Et2en)2I2 and Ni(Et2en)2SCN crystals (below) were synthesized with ~90% yield and the crystals magnetic susceptibility were also measured.
