Our primary interest includes nonlinear optical properties of novel nanocomposite materials and their applications in biomedicine and energy areas. Our research spans a broad range from materials preparation, fundamental understanding to practical applications. Specific foci are:

Research Highlight

Ref: Shi, J.; Lin, Z.; Zhu, Z.; Zhou, J.; Xu, G. Q.; Xu, Q.-H., Probing Excitonic Rydberg States by Plasmon Enhanced Nonlinear Optical Spectroscopy in Monolayer WS2 at Room Temperature. ACS Nano 2022, 16, 15862-15872. A hybrid nanostructure of monolayer WS2 integrated with a plasmonic cavity was designed and its NLO properties was investigated at the single particle level. Giant enhancement in NLO response and improved spectral resolution were achieved, which allowed us to distinguish discrete excitonic states with small energy differences at room temperature.
