SUMMARY:Recent Advancement in Gold Redox Chemistry: New Transformations and Asymmetric Catalysis by Professor Xiaodong Shi
DESCRIPTION:The Department is organising Research Seminar on “Recent Advancement in Gold Redox Chemistry: New Transformations and Asymmetric Catalysis” by Prof. Xiaodong Shi on Fri 16 Dec 2022\, 11.30am at Executive Classroom S8-03-14. In this seminar\, he will discuss some novel approaches to facilitate oxidation of Au(I) to Au(III) through 1) Aryldiazonium salts as the mild coupling partner/ oxidant\, gold catalyzed cross-coupling reactions are accomplished without any external oxidants under photocatalyst-free condition. 2) Employing sulfonium or diselenium cation as mild oxidants for the alkyne functionalization. 3) Electrochemical approach in promoting gold-catalyzed oxidative coupling. These approaches open an opportunity for gold redox catalysis. Details of his seminar can be found below.
